Mountain Lions In Nebraska

Richard Bischoff of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission came and spoke to the Wildlife Club on February 12th about mountain lions in Nebraska.  He talked about such issues as why mountain lions are returning to Nebraska, how to tell the difference between a lion and a bobcat, and what to do if you encounter a mountain lion in the wild.  Club members also got to watch some footage of a mountain lion feeding on a deer carcass filmed in Western Nebraska.

Mountain lions are native to Nebraska,

but only in the last few years as the big

cats are returning has there been a

need to inform the public on how to

properly identify a mountain lion.  The

pamphlet at right and below is intended

to help inform about mountain lion facts,

history, and identification.
