Spring 2008 Staff and Graduate Student Awards

The following awards were presented on Friday, May 2, 2008, as part of SNR's annual spring picnic and monthly celebration.
SNR Staff Recognition Award
Sara Winn, Academic Advisor with the Environmental Studies Program, is the recipient of the Spring 2008 School of Natural Resources Staff Recognition Award. Don Wilhite, SNR Director, presented Sara with a plaque and a stipend of $100.
Bob Kuzelka, Environmental Studies Program director, and Fisheries and Wildlife faculty members Larkin Powell and Mark Pegg, were Sara's nominators. Comments from the letters of nomination include:
"Sara epitomizes the spirit of going beyond the call of duty in all facets of her position... Sara is always willing to help with a high level of energy, exuberance, and a positive attitude that makes working with her a pleasure."
"Sara performs her title function, academic advisor, to the maximum benefit of the students... She has helped to bring students into the program and to retain the students in the program."
Previous winners of the Staff Recognition Award include Sue Vosler, Steve Ress, Valerie Egger and Bill Sorensen.
SNRGSA Recognition of Exemplary Service Award
The SNR Graduate Student Association also presented their first Recognition of Exemplary Service Award. The 2008 award went to Kimberly Payne and Max Post van der Burg, in recognition of their many contributions to the association.
Both award recipients have held several leadership roles in the organization. For example, Kim is a former chair, and Max is past SNRGSA representative to the SNR Graduate Committee.
Kevin McVey, SNRGSA Past Chair, and Eric Hunt, SNRGSA Chair, made the presentation.
