Description:
22-36 inches long; color typically tan and reddish brown but
may vary to grayish.
Habitat:
Woodlands with rocky outcrops is preferred habitat, but uses
a variety of habitat such as woodpiles, abandoned farms and
brushy meadows.
Diet:
Mice and other small mammals.
Similar
species:
1) Look for dark, hour-glass bands around body to be narrowest
along top of back.
2) Cat-eye vertical pupils
3) Pits located between the eyes and nostril on each side of
the on the side.
4) No rattle.
