The SNR website will be reorganized around the new faculty programs, in addition to areas for students, data and information about the School. The new site will be rolled out around July 1, 2009. (more)

 

Nebraska project uses space-age technology to track Long-billed Curlews

Larkin Powell, SNR conservation biologist and wildlife ecologist, is part of a team that is tracking two long-billed curlews from their nesting grounds in Nebraska to find out exactly where they go the rest of the year and whether they face threats in those other habitats. SNR/CSD Geologists Lead Field Trips

On June 3rd, Matt Joeckel, Paul Hanson, and Mark Kuzila took members of the STATEMAP cooperative geologic mapping program advisory committee and NRCS soil scientists and field mappers on a field trip to visit geologic mapping areas south of Lincoln.

On June 13th, Matt Joeckel led a field trip for participants in the Nebraska Well Drillers Association (NWDA) summer picnic at Cairo, Nebraska.

SNR’s EnvironMentors Students Win at Nationals

Congratulations to the three high school students, mentored by SNR faculty and staff, who took their projects to the national EnvironMentors Fair in Washington, D.C., on May 20. All three won scholarship awards. Thanks also to the SNR employees who took the time to serve as mentors and guide their students to completion: Dave Gosselin, Mary Bomberger Brown, and Melissa Widhalm.(more)

 

Vietnamese Agricultural Meteorologists Visit SNR

Vietnamese Visitors

The School of Natural Resources welcomed a delegation of Vietnamese agricultural meteorologists May 17-26 for an intensive overview of state-of-the-art research and technology related to agricultural meteorology and remote sensing. Their itinerary included a day-long trip to the Agricultural Research Development Center at Mead. (more)

 

SNR Donations Help Clinton Kids

Donations

Thank you to all who donated summer supplies and cash to Clinton Elementary School. We collected $250 in cash as well as flip flops, balls, toys, stuffed animals, play dough, coloring books, crayons, chalk, books, and more, and delivered it all in several boxes to the school on Tuesday, May 26.
